Tavern Tycoon

Tavern Tycoon is a management game tycoon.  Which I think is highly underrated on Steam.  It’s has some negative reviews but don’t let that stop you if you are interested in that sort of game.  It is an excellent game for a casual gamer but is plenty challenging.

Here are a few tips to help you survive the first few levels:

  1. Only build the rooms you need.
  2. Make the rooms the default size and don’t add extra furniture. The toilets are the only acceptation. I make the toilet room a little bit larger and have 3 to 4 toilets.
  3. Read the quest thoroughly at the beginning of each level.  It will tell you what rooms you need. Build that room first.
  4. Locals like spas, Rogues like archery, Knights like the gym and Wizards / Mages like the arcane room.
  5. Most Patrons follow an order: Bar, Restaurant, Specialized room and then Guest room.
  6. Only allow enough patrons in that you have enough space for at the bar.  (I start out with at least 2 bars and then add more later)
  7. You don’t have to accept every reservation but don’t reject them!  Save them to accept later!
  8. It’s a good idea to always the let Health Inspector in.
  9. Patrons like to be near fireplaces.
  10. The highest rating a patron will give is: +20
  11. The lowest rating a patron will give you is: -30 (That is often because they were in a bar fight)
  12. The rating system is confusing.  A patron can be totally happy with everything and still leave with a negative rating. (This might because they had to wait on a room)
  13. There is no way to stop bar fights.
  14. Admin office isn’t necessary to win a level.  Don’t waste the money to build it.
  15. Staff will need a staff rest room.  I add three couches to it so multiple employees can rest at the same time.
  16. Build a workshop and adjust the slider on the research panel to all the way blue.  You will need to learn new recipes right from the beginning.
  17. The workshop needs a barmaid & bartender.  This helps to learn or improve recipes and improves the quality of the mead.
  18. You can add extra equipment to the workshop (providing you have the room) and more employees to make the research go faster.
  19. Patron’s ratings will fall drastically if: mead quality is poor, they don’t get the meal they want from the restaurant, specialized room is not available, nowhere to sleep, long wait times or they get into a bar fight.
  20. Benches, bookshelves and chess boards help with the wait time.
  21. You can put multiple bunk beds in a shared room.
  22. Put stages or pianos near clusters of patrons.  Random guests will start playing music on them and improves the rating of anybody nearby.
  23. I put lots of smoking couches in the gambling den not casino machines.
  24. Make sure you have plenty of handy men to clean the puke off the floor.
  25. My barmaid to table ratio is: 3 Tables to 1 Barmaid.

Black Desert: Loyalty Points

BDO: Loyalty Points

Loyalty points are free just for playing and I’m not complaining but there are some items better than others to spend those loyalty points on:

Below is what I have spent my points on previously:

Character Slot Expansion Coupon.  (Having a lot of characters in this game is a bonus)

Weight Limit 50LT  (I buy this when I’m starting a new character.  They have very low weight limit in the beginning and this helps with all the loot)

Blessing of Kamasylve 1 Day (If it’s a day I know I will be fighting mobs a lot, I get one of these because it increases the loot drop)

Sealed Book of Combat 1day (Again, if I’m fighting mobs, I get this to boost up my combat experience. It’s especially helpful in higher levels)

What I never get or use:

Golden bell (It’s a lot of loyalty points just for 1 hour of combat experience.  It also for everybody on the server but I don’t care about those other people)

Inventory +1 Expansion Coupon  (It’s another one that requires a shit ton of points for very little.  If you want inventory slots, just do a few of the Black Spirit beginning quests)

City Storage Slots + 1 (Not even sure why this is in there.  You can add storage slots just by using contribution points on city buildings)

Atlanis Firefly (You can get these really cheap at any goods vendor)

These items you are get on marketplace cheap:

Special Carrot

Paste Bait

Good Feed

The other items don’t personally interest me so you will have to decide if it’s worth it to you or not.

Black Desert does put loyalty items on sale and have limited things from time to time.  It’s always worth checking out.

Black Desert: How I level up additional characters quickly.

How I level up additional characters:

I do the following before I start a new character because if everything is in place; I can level up a character to 56 in less than a day.

Preparation:

Armor: I place an extra set of armor in storage at either Veila or Heidel.  This is Helmet, Armor, Gloves and Shoes.  The extra set is just for leveling up different characters. My main set of armor will always be on my main combat character.  The extra set is leveled up to at least PRI. Some parts are higher but I don’t worry about leveling it up anymore.  All the armor and weapons have crystals in the sockets. I like the Grunil set because you have two places in each item to place crystals and since these are just additional characters, they do not need fancy armor.

Weapon: I buy two weapons (Main & Sub) and also place it in storage in Veila.  These weapons will be either 15+ or Pri.  Sometimes, I will buy a 15+ because it’s so much cheaper and just level it up to PRI. (It’s not super hard to level up a 15+ to pri)

Horse:  I will have a decent horse ready in the Veila stable. I will also gear up the horse too.

Food:  I will put meals & potions with extra combat buffs and carrots into storage.

Tools:  I will put one of each tool in storage. Example: Axe, Hoe, Butcher & Tanning Knife.  (Usually the ones with 100 to 130 uses)

Buff: Sometimes, I will put a combat book or several combat certificates in storage depending what I have at the time.

Jewelry: I put 2 rings, 2 earrings, necklace and a belt in storage.  I use the Asula set.

Start:

I create the character and start out in Olvia.  I follow the Black Spirit quests all the way to Veila and before killing the first boss; I will get my horse and everything out of storage.  Put on your armor, weapons and jewelry and get rid of your noobie stuff.  Have the tools on hand for any random quest that you might need it for. I then proceed to the 1st boss quest and kill him in about 3 seconds.  During this process, I will get out my pets and have them pick up loot even though the loot is not worth much. I will pretty much complete all the Black Spirit quests up to Calpheon. My goal is to get as many inventory slots as I can. By the time, I’m at Calpheon; I am ready to kill the Catfisherman boss which will level me up to 50.   I save all the buffs for this point since you will level up extremely fast to 50 without anything.  I am constantly eating meals whether I’m fighting or not because this will bump up your health.

After level 50:

I’m still going to follow the Black Spirit Quests until I get to awakening level 56 but I am also going to do a lot of mob killing. (Rhutums, Marsha & Catfisherman) Mob killing will help you level up pretty fast to 56. Be sure to use your points on combat skills thru out.  Don’t stop to kill ogres or cyclops.  You will be just slowing yourself down.

The way to think about it is and this is only an example. (Not factual numbers)

If one Rhutum is worth 2 points and you can kill 6 Rhutums in 3 seconds.  You would get 240 points of experience in 1 minute.

If one ogre is worth 20 points and you kill 1 ogre per minute, you would get 20 points per minute.

Even if you killed 2 ogres in 1 minute, Rhutums would still be the better deal.  More bang for your buck.

BDO has also placed combat experience as a reward in most of the quests so leveling up is much faster than before.  In some cases, you can get more combat experience from the quests than an hour killing mobs.  In my opinion, quests are really worth doing even past level 56.
